SUBMIT TO ATM

We don’t care if you’re a “writer” or an “artist.” We don’t care if you’ve never submitted before. ATM is a network for communicating in this erratic reality.

Please note ***we are not currently accepting submissions***. Check back soon; we're generally looking for relevant, non-theme based pitches and projects. If you have a suspicion that you would like to think through further, send it our way. If you work in a form that is not usually published on an online platform like this, but are curious about how it could be, reach out to us. We hope that this can be a way for you to continue to make and think while we collectively shift to new modes of being. We’d also like to be a recycling bin—send us your cutting, curious work that have not been accepted elsewhere. (We’re generally not interested in personal essays that could be Twitter threads, reporting that doesn’t admit its stance, or previously published work.)

In an attempt to build our collective decision-making power, we welcome all contributors to join ATM as collective members. We are in our incubation stages so there is much room for growth, collaboration, and new projects; we convene to think and study together, as well as make editorial and administrative decisions for the publication. This is an open invitation. Due to our capacity at this time, work with the editorial collective is volunteer-based and entirely optional.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please read this document before submitting. We’re looking for essays, interviews, reviews, fiction, poetry, video, and visual art. We accept simultaneous submissions, but let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere.

Writing: Submit all written work in .docx, .doc, or via Google Docs. We have no word limit, but keep in mind we prioritize quality over length.

Visual art: JPGs, TIFs, or RAW formats.

Videos: Send a file, do not format to Youtube or Vimeo.

Completed work and pitches are welcome. Please send submissions to atmsubbox@gmail.com with “SUBMISSION” and a proposed title in the subject line. Do include a short description of who you are in the body, and clips if you have them. If not, that is OK! You might then want to consider sending a fuller draft. We will respond to all submissions, whether accepted or not, though we ask that you do not follow up while waiting to hear back.

In an attempt to both pay contributors for their labor and allocate resources equitably, we operate on two sliding scales:

white writers/artists: $0 - 150

BIPOC writers/artists: $0 - 200

An intentional redistribution of resources is central to our broader intellectual and political project. We ask that you take into account all forms of wealth when determining your compensation. If you are financially stable, have access to generational support, or are otherwise comfortable, please ask for less so that we can publish more artists, writers, and organizers paid at the higher end of the scale.

We look forward to seeing your work. Thank you for considering us.
